The city as an ecosystem
An example: Alghero
Every living thing belongs to an ecosystem, and for many people that ecosystem is a town or city. Alghero is one of Sardinia’s historic towns with a distinctly human scale. In its public parks, Pinna Solinas Vivai has supplied and planted varieties that respect the character and history of these green spaces and their place in everyday town life.

The Martin Luther King Gardens, beside Alghero’s railway station and close to the church of Sant’Agostino Vecchio, mark one of the approaches to the town.
The gardens lie between the town centre and the once-outlying neighbourhood of La Pietraia. Improving public green space here contributes to the character and enjoyment of the whole area.
Today the neighbourhood has numerous holiday homes, B&Bs and other places to stay. Its proximity to the Lido beach and Lungomare Barcellona makes it popular with visitors from early spring, and its gardens offer a welcoming introduction to Alghero.
